Angela Simmons, Mother, Reality TV Star, Health & Fitness Model, Fashion Designer and Philanthropist is the Executive Producer and star of WE TV’s “Growing Up Hip Hop,” a reality TV show about growing up, stepping out and making her own mark as hip hop royalty.
The daughter of legendary rap artist and pioneer Reverend Run of Run-DMC, Angela made her TV debut as the star of two hit MTV shows: “Run’s House,” which gave America an insider’s look at the lives of the ﬁrst family of hip-hop, and “Daddy’s Girls,” which chronicled Angela and her older sister’s jet-setting bi-coastal lives as they navigated Hollywood and stepped out as role models.
Taking her life and career to the next level of greatness, Angela has developed several new ventures including “Pressure Makes Diamonds” a Women’s Empowerment Initiative that aims to uplift, inspire and encourage young girls and women to love and believe in themselves, overcome life challenges and never give up. “Angela’s Angels” is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide resources and educational programs to help people become self-sufficient members of society. In addition, “Built Not Bought” is an online workout program that encourages a healthy and meaningful lifestyle by working out and eating clean.
With close to 7 million social media followers, Angela will continue to use her platform to influence a positive change and give back while sharing her experiences as she discovers a deeper purpose in life. Angela’s annual trip to the “Mission of Grace” orphanage in Haiti provides an opportunity to help change the lives of children by providing them with the basic resources and the hope for a brighter future. “Girl Talk Take Over” is an event serving over 200 girls designed to encourage deep conversations and influence young girls to accomplish their dreams with the power and knowledge needed to transform their community.
With millions of followers and international appeal, Angela recently appeared in the 2018 Swim campaign with Swimsuits for All (with Ashley Graham, Brooke Shields, Pat Gallante and Dr. Katie Duke). She was guest co-host on “The Real” talk-show, a guest panelist at the Annual MegaFest with Bishop T.D. Jakes and guest speaker at the True Beauty Conference in New York.
